I've always been a fan of these pseudo propaganda posters, and "
Furrevolt" by ~
Xatchett, and the colors may look flat but they're not simple at all. Inspired by the famous Soviet poster "Have you volunteered to join the army?", this is a drawing with old reminiscences, but still not behind the times... (

Thank you!!!
I never was part of the furry fandom, though I do enjoy and draw anthropomorphic animals, for a number of reasons. First of all, the fandom didn't even produce any original art "en masse" back in 2002, and there was nothing to work with - it was a dead end. Secondly, the Russian fur community has always been more of the "furries are kind, lovable and about sex" type - and I can't say I share that point of view. There wasn't really any alternative for a person to turn to.
The idea started as a joke comment about a furry army by someone on a comic book forum, and I felt "Why the hell not? Sounds fun".
At first I tried to get some backing from the furs, those that were not openly associated with yiff, but most of the responses were sneers and "Help, terrorists!". So I turned towards the comic book artist and animator community, and it worked beautifully. Most of the folks that started and participated in Furrevolt at it's very beginning were prolific comic book artists, animators and illustrators - Komardin ([link]), Solovieva ([link]), Komarov ([link]), Kuzmichev ([link]), Shturman ([link]) - some of them didn't even know what furry meant before, and almost none of them were (or are now) furry affiliates.
After that, we really didn't care about what folks though about us - we were anything but dependent on their point of view, you know. And we got what we were aiming at - we're probably one of the largest Russian-based gallery of original Russian anthro art to date, if not the largest.
The theme is anything militaristic, not just Russian. If you look closely, you'll see that the drawings are not limited to Soviet designs -

So, is it for Russians only, or can anyone join? Also, is there an English translation for the webpage?
It hasn't been updated for a while, but I intend to resurrect it as soon as I settle everything.
