Nobody invited them here!

"K9" comics magazine in Ukraine used this one as the cover for the 2005 KomMissia Festival special edition, although it was made much earlier than the 9th of May (Russian Victory Day) or the comic book festival (they've asked me to cover the swastika and the Soviet markings due to regulations - heck, even "Hellboy" reprints in Russian cover the Swastika up, which I find rather stupid). I tried to use the WW2 propaganda poster style which I've come to like, and the Hitler-vulture reference, taken from various works, including ones by Victor Deni, a popular war cartoonist. It's a quote of his, by the way: "The Nazi vulture learned that we're not lambs!"
I didn't especially like the celebration hype around this event this year, with the world leaders in Kremlin and all that - we've got vets 80-90 years old scavenging in the garbage cans, homeless and forgotten, under a huge advertising shield saying "Thank you, veterans!". But this drawing came up in response to various topics on the net, having to do with how "great" everyone would've been off if we let Germany win the war and that the Nazis were actually the "victims" here. My position on this topic is adamant. 60 years of the greatest ass-kicking deserved at least a mention by me, keeping in mind that my granddad's a war vet.
